Traffic pattern changes around Middleton High School

Formatted HTML message

Starting next week you will start seeing signs going up in the Middleton High School (MHS) lot indicating a traffic pattern change.  This is to address the congestion and dangerous driving after school.

There will no longer be eastbound access from Lee St into the MHS student lot.  This is to create a safer flow of traffic after school westbound out of the lot.  The parking lot section in front of the Performing Arts Center (PAC) with the speed bumps will now be one-way westbound.

There will be a barricade placed near the northwest corner of the PAC sidewalk stopping eastbound drivers. The city is also going to place a dead end sign (to be replaced with a no outlet sign) somewhere on Lee St near the park to warn eastbound drivers.

The other change is that the southern exit onto Park Lawn Pl from the MHS lot will now become an exit AND an entrance.  This is to accommodate bus flow issues.

The plan is that this will be a trial run through the end of this school year.  If it works they will make the change permanent when they redo the lot in summer of 2014 by adding permanent barricades and traffic signs.

Click here to watch a video describing the changes and suggested alternate routes.
