Incident: Burglary in Progress

On December 1, 2014 at 4:45 AM, the Middleton Police Department received a report of a burglary in progress at Chalmers Jewelers located at 6202 University Avenue.  An alert neighbor observed the crime in progress, called police, and provided a last known direction of travel for the suspects.  Responding officers arrived within minutes of the call and observed the suspects entering a vehicle at a property adjacent to Chalmers Jewelers.  Upon seeing officers, the suspects fled on foot and after a short foot pursuit two out of the three suspects were taken into custody.

James D. Thompson, 26, of Madison and Dewayne Williams, 39, of Fitchburg were both arrested in reference to this incident and were taken to the Dane County Jail on charges of Burglary.  

The Middleton Police Department is asking anyone who may have information or witnessed this incident to contact the police department at 608.824.7300, tipster line at 608.824.7304 or text at 608.824.7300.

Two men have been arrested following a report of a burglary in progress on Dec 1, 2014 at 4:45 AM, at Chalmers Jewelers located at 6202 University Avenue.
